ABOUT LI-CAN

Long Island CAN (or LI-CAN) is a diverse, non-partisan, volunteer-driven organization rooted in religious congregations and other non-profits in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. We are a vehicle through which people from all walks of life on Long Island do the everyday work of democracy:

  • Building relationships and finding common ground across lines that divide us.
  • Researching issues that affect the lives of our member families and institutions, identifying workable solutions, and creating strategies for change.
  • Using our combined power to win victories that matter to our communities.
  • Developing public leaders.

LI-CAN is one of approximately 75 local groups across the U.S. and abroad affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), the nation’s first and largest broad-based community organizing network. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1996, with a track record of achievements that improve lives and strengthen our communities.

Holy Eucharist

Sunday, April 2, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Worship in the Episcopal Church rests on scripture and the traditions of the elegant language of the Book of Common Prayer. While the worship might seem more formal than spontaneous, we reliably read scripture every time we worship together, and we follow the liturgy that has stood the test of time. Our worship is in letting the liturgy carry us along into a deeper spiritual awareness and connection with God.
