LI-CAN is continually seeking to recruit new member institutions that share its vision for a better Long Island, and wish to act together with leaders from diverse backgrounds to bring about meaningful change. 

Current LI-CAN members include synagogues, churches, mosques, social service agencies, neighborhood associations, and organizations of people in recovery. Also eligible for membership are business associations, parent-teacher and student organizations, labor unions, health care and educational institutions, civic groups, and other community organizations.



What does LI-CAN provide its member institutions?

• Training and development of leaders and potential leaders within the institution

• Assistance on tackling specific local and regional issues of concern to its members and the surrounding community

• Support of other LI-CAN member institutions and IAF organizations in the New York Metro area

• Participation of one or more representatives on the Strategy Team, LI-CAN’s main leadership team and decision-making body

What does LI-CAN ask of its member institutions?

• Annual dues contribution equaling 1% of the institution’s total annual operating budget (minimum $1,000, maximum $10,000).

• Active participation of leaders within the institution and on the Strategy Team and issue work.

• A willingness to engage with and support other LI-CAN member institutions.
